Well, Summer’s just around the corner and I’m looking forward to some quality family time.

We’re always looking for fun activities to do this summer! Are you planning anything?

There can be a lot going on during summer break! Between the heat and mosquitoes, it can be tough. And don’t forget school is out!

Summer is a time of fun and games. You want your kids to have a good time, but you don’t want them to run wild.

Here are some fun ideas for things you can do with your kids during Summer!

17 Fun Summer Activities For Kids In The Summer

1. Visit your local library

Let kids pick the books they want to read.

As a follow-up activity, once they are finished with them, ask them some open-ended questions about the book they just read. Ask them what they thought about it, and whether or not they would recommend it to their friends.

If you have trouble finding fun and awesome Summer activities, this will surely help to keep your little ones busy.

As a bonus, this will be an excellent way to get them reading!

2. Weekend family trips

You can find travel packages for Cape Cod, Niagara Falls among other places. No two destinations are the same.

The kids will tell their friends how much fun they had this summer when you take them on a road trip to these amazing places.

If you are on a budget, plan an excursion for the day! Pull up a map and look at a 200-mile radius around where you live (this would be about 2-3 hr drive one way).

Where can you and your family go? What can you do? Let the kids help plan!

3. Plan a nature walk close to your home

If you have little ones that are old enough to walk, take them on a walk around the block or through the woods near your house.

Talk about what they are seeing during these walks like trees, wildlife, flowers birds, or do scavenger hunts.

You can even go off-trail once in a while to spot some fun and exciting things.

This is the perfect Summer activity for kids who are looking to keep themselves entertained and learn some new skills.

It can help with body movement, better glucose control, speech development, organization of ideas into lists or categories – plus it’s just plain fun!

4. Get creative in the kitchen with your kids this summer

Try out two new recipes together with your family each week by using healthy ingredients already in your home.

Kids love to learn new things and enjoy cooking with their parents. Not only will they be able to eat healthy foods, but also have fun in the process!

Take this opportunity to teach them healthy eating habits. You just might be surprised at how much they enjoy it!

Make very simple recipes that don’t require you to cook so much!

5. Visit the park

Visit the park and play throwing the ball!

What could be better than a day spent playing games and getting some exercise? This is the perfect way for kids to enjoy their summer without being bored.

If it’s too hot, play in the backyard with the sprinkler on!

6. Get in the habit of gratitude with your kids

Have the kids each write down five things they’re grateful for on one piece of paper per day.

Take turns reading the notes out loud and repeat the activity the next day.

Sharing positive things with kids is an awesome way to keep them entertained this summer!

7. Play classic board games

Play classic board games like Monopoly, Guess Who, and Jenga.

Classic board games are always a must-have, especially if it’s a rainy day outside.

There’s nothing like rolling up your sleeves with friends or family in order for some good old-fashioned bonding time!

The local amusement park is a great place to have fun with the family.
